Google Clan is a multigame clan with a strong presence in the Battlefield, Call of Duty and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. The roots of Google Gaming are as a Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory nonbot clan. Our gaming community is run by our owners Kismit and NickiM who along with their leaders/members keep this clan going strong. Our history is a long and colourful one, many of the members who began the clan have since left, but all of our members current and past helped to create the amazing place it is now.
The name Google means unlimited. It was originally derived from Googolplex, a number falling just short of infinity
(1 followed by 10 to the power of 100 zeros, to be exact).
Although same in name to the Google search engine, our use of the name Google refers only to the unlimited opportunities worthy of a clan of such caliber.
Google started when Paloooz, Reaper, Joe (aka Boxes), and MC (aka Xenon) (a group of ET players) met each other on Arney5 ET 2.55. These players grew close together. A player named UrBaN Snipe joined this group shortly after.
Paloooz, Reaper and MC joined UrBaN (which was led by Snipe and Z-Shot). A friend of the server master did not like their presence, so they left. Paloooz then created the first UrBaN server.
Snipe was beginning to cause problems, so Paloooz overthrew him, taking his place. UrBaN clan lasted a while, but when a player named Barbie started playing with the name Google_Barbie, Paloooz then decided to adopt Google as the clan name, replacing UrBaN. After the change of name, many people started playing on the Google server. Some of these players were recruited into Google, including Google Clan's first assistant leaders (Trigger, Addict, and Bongo).
Bongo tested another Google server (Google Custom), but then left for 45thID clan. Time went by and Google recruited a number of skilled and loyal members. Google was ranking first and was progressing extremely well.
Google's first forum was made by Google_Corey, but got shut down very soon. The next attempt was Nemesis's site, but that also failed. At last, LiamMac created the first forum that, within few months, turned into an amazing forum. However, these good times were not to last, as the Google server was shut down due to an inability to pay for the server.
Google Clan's first era had ended. Fortunately, a member called Ghost made a relationship with G!X Clan’s owner. Google then settled there, forming G!X Black.
G!X Black's first and new leader was Ghost, but Ghost was soon was replaced by Goddess. The head owner of G!X, Lordgix, was the chief founder of the clan. As Google became [=G!X=]Black[=G!X=], the only cheat house, many former Google members made their way through to Black and settled in.
G!X Black tried to hold onto old Google's rules and ways of dealing with recruitment and clan management, but never achieved this. Google had many different owners changing over time, which included Paloooz for a period. The only significant owner now was Xanax, who had solidly been an owner since the struggle to pay the fees.
Ghost, NightGoddess, Xanax, SpooN and Yakov united to create Google once again, pulling all wishful Black members with them. LiamMac naturally followed and created yet another forum and site.
Google has since had Gomerr, Yakov, Jacks, Joe, Neo and Xanax who have now departed. In June 2008, the head owner of Google, Gumby, created a Google Nonbot server. It proved to be extremely popular, attracting excellent numbers. In January of 2009, the Google forum was hacked, so Jake and Elwood Blues made another to serve as a temporary home. However, attempts to get the original forum back up proved unsuccessful, so it became the clan’s home until November 2009.
Google was recruiting on both servers and it became apparent that there was a division in the Clan between Nonbot and Oldskool. This division came to a head in early November 2009, and the decision was made to split the Clan. Google retained its Oldskool and COD 4 Servers and moved to a new forum. The remaining Nonbot Members decided to keep the Nonbot Server going with a new clan.
The former Google Nonbot members were enthusiastic to keep together and retain the Nonbot server. One of the former Google owners, Jake Blues, along with Shogun, Bunny, and Elwood Blues gathered the Google Nonbot members to create a plan for the future of Nonbot. The founding members were nfkiller, Mushroom, Kismit, Buck, Jonesey, Paulo, Filby and Boyo. It was decided between them that the new clan would be called Phoenix, which would symbolize the rising of the clan from humble beginnings to glorious heights just as a phoenix would rise from the flame.
Phoenix quickly grew into a tight knit nonbot-only clan, adding many new faces. Jake, Elwood, and several other members left Phoenix, though Jake still remained close to the clan and served as a mentor to many within it. BunBun took his place alongside Shogun and helped the clan prosper.
Phoenix and Google both had their own choices in the games they wished to expand with. Phoenix chose to add a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare server and Google Choose to add a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 server.
In April of 2010, Google shut down its Wolfenstein server and moved to into the Bad Company scene, leaving Google Oldskool dead. In the wake of this, the members of Google decided to leave for another clan.
The former head owner of Google, Gumby, asked Shogun and BunBun (the Phoenix Clan owners) if they wished to take Google's name and keep the legacy alive. After much consideration by all the Phoenix members, it was decided that they would rejoin and continue Google's proud legacy.
In 2013, following a few retirements, the majority of the clan owners were now focused around the Battlefield and CoD series of games. It became clear however that there was a deep division between the majority of the clan and some of the clan owners involved in Battlefield. A series of miscommunications and internal turmoil between a few individuals led to part of the battlefield section breaking off to form their own clan. Following this BunBun stepped down as an clan owner and Nickim joined Kismit as our only two clan owners. Kismit then primarily took care of CoD with NickiM taking care of the Battlefield series. In the aftermath BunBun left the clan altogether and Yohnnie, Wild Turkey and Broxogar were made Battlefield Leaders to help the clan prosper.
Since Gatecrasher Split, Google Clan has been going strong, our clan has prospered under the new leadership of NickiM and the continued leadership of Kismit. We have seen Google Clan regain its reputation in Battlefield as well as continue its strong presence in our other games. We have since moved into BF4 alongside Rebels Clan, maintained our presence in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory with an active server and recently picked up a Counterstrike: Global Offensive server. Google Clan has never been stronger and with each new day our clan continues to prosper.
We would like to thank all the members of our community (owners, leaders, members, and server/forum regulars alike) for their contributions and commitment. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Again, thank you.
